Contractor placement · Construction
We find the crew, run the checks, and handle the hire.
Proof and Fit staffs construction jobs with contractors who have already been screened. Every placement clears a third-party background check before day one on your site.

How it works
Three steps, and you never run the paperwork.
You tell us what the job needs. We do the sourcing, the screening, and the hire — and you get a crew that's ready to work.
Send us the scope
Trade, headcount, start date, site, and pay range. We'll ask what a good day on your job actually looks like, because that's what "fit" means.
We recruit and vet
We pull from our roster and recruit for the gap. Every candidate goes to an independent screening provider before their name ever reaches you.
You get a cleared short list
Rates, references, and the completed check on every name. We handle the offer, the onboarding paperwork, and a first-week check-in.
The background check
Run by a third party. Not by us.
We don't grade our own homework. Screening is performed by an independent, FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency, so the result on the file is the result — not our opinion of a candidate we want to place.
How it stays clean: candidates sign a written consent before anything is pulled, receive a copy of their own report, and get a chance to dispute an error before a hiring decision is made. We keep the paper trail for every placement.
- Identity and SSN trace
- County, state, and federal criminal search
- National sex offender registry
- Trade license verification with the state board where the job is
- Certificate of insurance and workers' comp status
- Motor vehicle record, when the role drives
- Employment history and three reference calls
- Drug screen, on request or per your site policy
Trades we staff
Residential, commercial, and everything with a punch list.
We staff in all 50 states, and we screen to the licensing rules of the state your job is actually in. Don't see your trade? Ask. If we can't fill it well, we'll say so instead of sending you a warm body.
Why a small shop
Small on purpose.
You talk to the owner
No account manager, no ticket queue. The person who takes your call is the person who screens the crew.
We won't send a name we wouldn't hire
We'd rather come back and tell you the search is taking longer than fill a slot with someone who walks off in week two.
One fee, quoted up front
A flat placement fee agreed before we start, with the background check included. No surprises on the invoice.
Crew care
And we buy the crew lunch.
Every day, on every job. Nobody on a Proof and Fit placement is skipping a meal because the site is forty minutes from the nearest anything. A fed crew works safer, stays later, and comes back tomorrow — so we pay for it, and it never lands on your invoice.

What clients say
We check references. Ours are open too.
I was leery about going with a new business, but so far they have been great. The crew showed up when they said they would and the paperwork was already done.
Get started
Tell us what you need.
Fill out the form that fits. It comes straight to admin@proofandfit.com. We answer within one business day — day worker requests, same day.
Requests come in by email rather than by phone, and that's on purpose — it lets us confirm every business we send a crew to is a real one. It protects the people we place, and it means you're working with a company that documents things. Write to us and we'll take it from there.
Questions
The ones we get most.
How fast can you fill a spot?
General labor and demo usually move in a few days. Licensed trades take longer — plan on one to two weeks, because the screening has to come back before we hand you a name.
What states do you cover?
All fifty. We recruit local to your job site rather than flying a crew in, and license verification is run against the contractor board of the state the work is in — not ours.
Can I get a day worker for tomorrow morning?
Usually, yes. Day workers come off the same roster we've already screened, so there's no check to wait on. Get the request in before 3:00 PM and we'll confirm the same day. Sunrise starts are normal — tell us the report time and where to park.
How do I pay an invoice?
Through Square, and only through Square. Your invoice arrives from Square with a Pay button in it, or you can use the link on our pay page. We never take cash, check, wire, Zelle, Venmo, or gift cards — if anyone asks you to pay that way, it isn't us.
You really buy lunch?
Every day worked, on every job, day worker or full placement. It's not a perk we bill back to you — it's how we keep good people, and it costs you nothing.
Who pays for the background check?
We do. It's built into the placement fee, and it's run whether you ask for it or not.
What if the placement doesn't work out?
Tell us inside the guarantee window on your agreement and we'll re-source the role at no additional placement fee.
Is this temp labor or direct hire?
Both. Tell us which one you want on the intake form and we'll structure it that way.
Does a record automatically disqualify a contractor?
No. We look at what the record is, how old it is, and whether it has anything to do with the job. That's an individualized assessment, and it's the law — a blanket ban isn't how we hire.
